Hit Me With Your Best Shot: Showgirls

Posted by missemmamm on August 5, 2010

Well you may have noticed a lack of posts lately due to my blog being taken off line in the Great Blogetery Fiasco of 2010. Supposedly they will be back online on the 8th. I would wait to post again until then but I had to participate in Film Experience’s Hit Me With Your Best Shot Showgirls post. It appears I’m late but oh well. As you know if you read my blog, Showgirls is my favorite movie. I even bought a role in Rena Riffel’s sequel Showgirl. FYI: She has begun filming and has some behind the scenes shots up on Facebook.

“She’s no butterfly. Tony, she’s all pelvic thrust.”

I considered this thrust photo from the rehearsals as my favorite because it shows how hard she is working but I had to go with an ending shot because even after all she goes through she has stars in her eyes. She’s accomplished her showgirl dream and now she’s gonna be a Hollywood star.

BTW-You should definitely read Film Experience regularly. I just discovered it a couple of weeks ago but it’s quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

July Movie Lilies

Posted by missemmamm on July 9, 2010

Yes, I’m a week late on this but it turns out that the only things that came out last week were vampire trash and M. Night Shyamalan’s wet dream so it’s nothing I would have highlighted anyway.

Grease-7/08 (Limited)

Photobucket
You know Grease. As a child it’s that really awesome movie with the fun singing and a hot, young John Travolta. As an adult it’s not quite the same. This is a re-release sing along. Apparently they think it will go over with today’s teens because of their love of High School Musical and Glee (yuck! on both counts). I saw Grease on the big screen during the 1998 re-release. Oh, who am I kidding? If we were actually getting it here I’d go see it again. Side Note: Musical teachers love to have kids perform songs from this but change the words because they are “offensive” (okay, pussy wagon is a bit offensive for 11 year olds but changing art is fucked up). My sister encountered this as a pre-teen in show choir. It was also spoofed on an episode of SNL hosted by Christopher Walken.

Predators-7/09
Photobucket
Predators is another one of these movies that is a sequel/remake/reimagining thing. I’m sure you know by now that Predators are some freaky ass aliens. I’ve seen some of the Predator movies and I’m not a big fan. They’re okay but I’m not going out of my way to see them. I really don’t get the commercials/trailers for this that try to avoid showing the Predator. It’s not like a whole new character we’ve never seen. C’mon on. The film stars Adrien Brody (yum), Laurence Fishburne, Danny Trejo and Topher Grace (who I haven’t seen in any ads?). It was directed by Nimrod Antal who also did Armored and Vacancy (ugh).

The Kids Are All Right-7/09

YouTube Preview Image
The plot is that the daughter of a lesbian couple wants to find her dad (I mean sperm donor). This looks like the type needlessly dramatic movie I usually avoid except Annette Bening is playing one of the moms. I just think she is a fantastic actress. So I will eventually rent it. Julianne Moore is the other mom. Of course she’s a good actress but I feel like so many of her flicks are hit or miss. Mark Ruffalo is the sperm donor. I used to ogle him but this is not an oglable (invented word) role. The daughter is Mia Wasikowska who recently played Alice in Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland.

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice-7/16
Photobucket
This is a Disney flick that should appeal to the 13 year old boys out there. Nic Cage plays a sorcerer who takes Jay Baruchel under his wing as his apprentice and they fight a bunch of CGI generated dangers. This is obviously a part of some contract Cage has with Disney that probably includes The National Treasure movies. You know, he needs the money. It looks okay but major things about this movie bother me. In any other movie like this the main “boy” would be in his teens. Baruchel is 28. If I were casting it I would have picked someone who was 16 or 17. Then you have Alfred Molina playing a villain. Molina doesn’t scare me at all. I didn’t understand when they put him in Spider-Man 2 and I don’t get it here either. When he comes out in his elaborate costumes trying to strike fear into one’s heart I feel like he should be stepping onto a stage to lip synch a song. Yes, he looks like a big drag queen. I like drag queens but they don’t scare me. As usual, Nic Cage is somehow hot despite his strange hair.

Inception-7/16
Photobucket
This is the 2nd really cool looking mind bending flick from Leonardo DiCaprio this year. The film is about people who go into your dreams and steal your secrets. It looks deliciously trippy. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Kem Watanbe, Cillian Murphy, Michael Caine and Lukas Hass are also in the cast. Even the promo they are doing for the flick is killer. Go here to watch the trailer.

Salt-7/23
Photobucket
Salt is about a CIA officer (Angelina Jolie) who may or may not be a Russian spy. Do we even care anymore? I would have been all over something like this in 2000 but can you really even look at Jolie anymore without thinking about her crazy approach to mothering? I prefer the sexual cutter.

Life During Wartime-7/23
YouTube Preview Image
YouTube Preview Image
Plot from IMDB: “Friends, family, and lovers struggle to find love, forgiveness, and meaning in a war-torn world riddled with comedy and pathos.” I am a fan of Todd Solondz’s films. I’m not really sure what this movie is about but I’m sure I will rent it and figure that out in the future. The cast includes Allison Janney, Paul Reubens, Ally Sheedy, Gaby Hoffman and Chris Marquette.

Dinner for Schmucks
-7/30
Photobucket
This is the July released that I am super-psyched about. It’s a comedy about a succesful group who meet to have dinner parties and see who can invite the biggest idiot like the non-sexual version of a dogfight. The cast includes Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, Zach Galifianakis, Ron Livingston and Bruce Greenwood. This is a remake of the 1998 French film The Dinner Game which I have seen a few times since my sister owns it. The Dinner Game was very funny and starred Thierry Lhermitte, whose name I wouldn’t recognize but whose face I always do. Dinner for Schmucks looks fantastic. They’ve been playing the trailer here for months but I still laugh everytime. I was a little worried that they put everything good in the trailer but I saw a commercial earlier with some other funny bits so I’m hoping it’s gonna be as awesome as I expect. It was directed by Jay Roach who did the Meet The Parents movies (ew) and The Austin Powers movies (cool). Go here to watch the trailer.

The Extra Man-7/30 (Limited)
YouTube Preview Image
Kevin Kline is an old, misogynistic, gigolo who speaks like an Oscar Wilde character. Paul Dano (The Girl Next Door) is the young guy who is finding himself and is fascinated with Kline. John C. Reilly and Katie Holmes co-star. I’ll be renting this when it trickles down to Blu-Ray since it’s only opening in NY & LA.

Get Low-7/30 (Limited)
YouTube Preview Image
Robert Duvall is a hermit who wants to throw a funeral party. It’s a funeral that you have while you are alive. It looks pretty interesting. The cast includes Billy Murray, Sissy Spacek, Gerald McRaney and Lucas Black.

Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore-7/30

Photobucket
I would normally ignore this lame children’s sequel but I must mention how strange it is. First of all the title is an homage to the often parodied James Bond character Pussy Galore which would be weird enough. I’ve been seeing parts of the commercial though and it’s got some strange ass shit in it like a cat unzipping itself from a dog suit. Just look at the posters. I’m pretty sure if I was a little kid I would get “3D” nightmares from this. As if I wasn’t already afraid of the future from listening to the woes of the youth of America every night. If this is what little tiny kids want to watch I’m pretty sure we’re all fucked.

When I was a little girl (let me enjoy this, I only get to be a little girl in flashbacks) I didn’t watch a lot of TV but I did tend to watch MTV at night. I thought it was like getting a glimpse at adults. Of course, in retrospect, it really wasn’t. It was more like a bunch of 20 somethings acting silly which can be a lot of fun. For years when I’d hear something about this show The State I remembered the title and watching sketch comedy on MTV back in the day. That’s as far as it went though. I didn’t remember the actual show at all. However it turns out I’ve been watching and enjoying the collected works of the cast (also writers) of the show for years. Recently I’ve been marathoning the show on Netflix and it’s so sarcastically hilarious. What am I getting at? This was the springboard of the fantastic Ken Marino’s career.

I first noticed Ken Marino as nice and sexy Officer Russotelli in 2000’s 101 Ways (The Things a Girl Will Do to Keep Her Volvo). I happened to be surfing movies channels years ago, came across and was absorbed by it. I recently rewatched it and still enjoyed it immensely. It’s about a young female writer trying to get by. Marino plays the only normal guy in the film so I didn’t realize he was a comedic actor.

As time went by I’d see him in small roles here and there and go “Oh, it’s that hot guy” but I didn’t know his name or follow his career. One of those times was when he played one of Phoebe’s many love interests on Charmed. Yes, I was a huge Charmed fan.

I was really happy to see him in recent years opposite his The State costar Michael Ian Black on Reaper as part of a cool gay demon couple. He also really shined in The Ten. You can watch his whole part in that film by viewing the top 2 videos.

What caused me to be so enamored with him as of late though is his kick ass performance as team leader Ron Donald on Party Down. Ron Donald is always trying to be optimistic (as with his Soup R’ Crackers goal) but things just never seem to go his way. I really dig him in this role because I have a thing for big doofy guys. I am attracted to a lot of different men but if I had a type it would be the big dumb guy.

Obviously Marino himself is very intelligent though. He’s a writer, producer and director. Most recently he directed the season 2 finale of Party Down. There’s a lot of talk about Party Down coming to an end after this season because it’s more of a labor of love than a cash cow for the cast but I’m really hoping this doesn’t happen because it’s definitely one of the funniest shows out there right now. Marino has been very vocal in his distaste of members of the cast leaving the show and his co-star Martin Starr has also expressed worry over the show’s future on twitter. I really hope a 3rd season somehow gets made.

There is no way I could go into all of his roles. Go check out his filmography and see what appeals to you.

FUN FACTS:
Marino is married to Erica Oyama who appeared on another MTV show Undressed. They have one child.

“My big theory is that comedy is a lot like porno now: there’s something out there for everyone.”-Ken Marino

The Sexy Bradley Cooper

Posted by missemmamm on June 11, 2010

Guy on Guy Action in Wet Hot American Summer

Ripping off his clothes “to save a life” on Nip/Tuck

Bradley Cooper first came to my attention in 2005. I had never watched the show Alias because I thought it looked boring. Prior to the 4th season premiere though they were heavily advertising it. I didn’t have anything else to watch so I caught the season premiere. Of course I was hooked. I, as usual, was broke and had to get the DVDs used cheaply on eBay. Back then the sets retailed for over $40. I actually bought season 3 before 1 and 2 because it was the only one I could get really cheap at the time. Confusing but I still got into it. A month or so later I picked up the other 2. Going through the series I thought this Will guy was so cute.

In 2005 I caught Bradley Cooper’s appearances in Wedding Crashers and was all upset like “How could they make him a jerk?”. Later when I became a guide the only questions I ever had about him were “Who’s the asshole in Wedding Crashers?” and I’d sigh.

Then he got the lead in the Fox series Kitchen Confidential. I thought, awesome, he’s gonna be a star. No, the show was canceled hella quick. In the series he was playing a fictionalized version of celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain.

In 2007 he had a memorable role as actor Aiden Stone in Season 5 on one of my favorite shows, Nip/Tuck. Of course, he killed it.

In 2008 he was the lead in the awesome horror flick Midnight Meat Train but it was rushed in and out of theaters. You should definitely check it out though.

Then last year I was visiting family in Maryland and we went to see Fast & Furious. In front of it they had the trailer for The Hangover. I thought this was really cool because I had my first trip to Vegas planned for the next month. The movie looked hilarious. It turns out that what it took for him to become a star was a big budget comedy. Ever since then I now get “Who’s the sexy guy from The Hangover?” when working. I much prefer that description. Later that year he co-starred with Sandra Bullock in the awful looking romantic comedy All About Steve.

Most of his other roles were minor or I’ve tried to scrub the movie from my brain. (Case in point: He’s Just Not That Into You, ack!).

Later I realized that he was one of the guys making out (yum) in the hilarious Wet Hot American Summer. He also played a hot jerk on an episode of Sex and the City.

Today his big budget action film The A-Team opens. Frankly I know nothing about the show except from stuff they’ve shown on Family Guy. He looks down right sexy in it though and I like those types of movies so I’ll be seeing it soon.

They are also in pre-production on The Hangover 2. I hope it’s as funny as the 1st. In 2011 he will also appear in a thriller called The Dark Fields which sounds pretty neat.

FUN FACTS:

He’s 6′1 but wanted to be taller.

“I had size 12 feet when I was 10, so I thought I was going to be 6′ 8″. My goal was to be able to dunk a basket. I wound up being 6′ 1″ with size 14 feet. I got the raw end of the deal.”-Bradley Cooper (from IMDB.com)

He’s currently dating Renee Zellweger. I think they make a cute couple.

June Movie Bugs

Posted by missemmamm on June 4, 2010

Photobucket
This is the Forgetting Sarah Marshall spin off. Russell Brand reprises his role as rocker Aldous Snow while Jonah Hill plays a completely new character. Snow has went back to his old ways and Hill has to go retrieve him. I’ve thought Hill was funny since his appearance as the guy buying platforms in 40 Year Old Virgin. All of the clips and trailers for this crack me up even the 3rd or 4th time. I’ll be checking this out this weekend.

Splice-06/04
Photobucket
Splice stars Sarah Polly and Adrian Brody. This looks like a pretty cool scifi flick. It looks a bit like a darker Species except instead of raising an alien it’s a new type of human. Reviews have been good.

Marmaduke-06/04

Photobucket
This is a live action movie based on the comic strip. The strip is sometimes funny. I love that they had Owen Wilson voice Marmaduke. The always awesome Judy Greer costars. Plus there are a ton of other actors supplying voices. I’ll be renting this one. You can check out the trailer here.

Ondine-06/04
Photobucket
I love Colin Farrell but the trailers I’ve seen for this were hella boring. Plot (from IMDB.com): “The story of an Irish fisherman who discovers a woman in his fishing net who he believes to be a mermaid.” Stephen Rea costars.

Finding Bliss-06/04 (Limited)
Photobucket

YouTube Preview Image
I hadn’t heard about this until I started putting this post together. Leelee Sobieski stars as a wannabe filmmaker in this comedy. She inadvertently gets involved in a porn and decides to shoot her own movie at night. Jamie Kennedy, Denise Richards and Kristen Johnston costar. This looks like it has the potential to be pretty funny.

The Killers-06/04
Photobucket
This is the new action romantic comedy starring Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl. Before I wasn’t sure but after seeing the nonstop TVs ads I’ve decided this will suck. You can view the trailer here.

The A-Team-06/11
Photobucket
This is the big screen remake of the TV series of the same name. I’m not gonna lie, I’m all over this movie because Bradley Cooper looks hot in it. It looks like it could be a fun flick. Liam Neeson, Jessica Biel and Patrick Wilson costar.

The Karate Kid-06/11
I have no interest in any of the Karate Kid movies. Just restating my opinion that Will Smith will use this movie to boost his son, Jaden Smith (the lead), to stardom. Obviously Smith knows what he’s doing when it comes to making careers.

Toy Story 3
-06/18
Photobucket
Plot (from IMDB.com): “Woody (Hanks), Buzz (Allen), and the rest of their toy-box friends are dumped in a day-care center after their owner, Andy, departs for college.” I think this one looks like it could be pretty good if you’re a fan of the Toy Story movies (I was). As usual, Tom Hanks and Tim Allen star.

Jonah Hex-06/18
Photobucket
This adaptation of a comic books stars Josh Brolin as the disfigured bounty hunter. John Malkovich costars. This adventure film looks like a good time. I’m a fan of Brolin but I get the feeling that he was picked because even though he’s been acting for 25 years many people on the street wouldn’t recognize him. That has to be awkward. Even if this looked bad I’d be jazzed about it, just look at Megan Fox in it. Go here to see the trailer. You can download the poster and wallpapers at the official site. Set photos are from megansafox.com. I highly recommend this site as an up to date resource for Megan Fox photos.

Cyrus-06/18 (Limited)
Photobucket
This is a dark comedy that stars John C. Reilly and Marisa Tomei as a new couple. Jonah Hill plays Tomei’s needy son. Go watch the trailer here.

Grown Ups-06/25
Photobucket
If I had only seen the cast and not any trailers for this I’d probably think it was gonna be amazing. It’s a comedy about old friends who reunite starring a ton of SNL actors: David Spade, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, Maya Rudolph, Colin Quinn, Tim Meadows and Norm MacDonald. The results don’t look that hot though. On Spade’s twitter it sounded like they had a ball filming it but that shouldn’t be your only reason for making a movie, right? I’ll probably check it out while it’s in theaters just because I love Spade.

Knight and Day
-06/25
Photobucket
Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz star in this action film about a woman getting pulled into an adventure with a spy. No you aren’t seeing double, there are big similarities between this and the previously mentioned The Killers movie. Peter Sarsgaard (who I love!) costars. This looks like it could have been fun years ago, like before we knew Cruise was insane.

Style File: Mellie

Posted by missemmamm on June 2, 2010

Photobucket

A few days before my birthday my mother took me to Applebee’s to celebrate. Unfortunately we had a really rude waitress and couldn’t really enjoy ourselves. I don’t like to complain but I don’t think it was a big deal that we needed more/different dressing. She never offered to refill my drink and threw our bill at us before we were done eating. I had the chicken won ton tacos and a half size oriental chicken salad.

I wore this Free People dress. I’m a seller on eBay. Usually I just flip movie and TV wardrobe. I don’t buy the stuff to wear myself. Most of the actresses are tiny so I couldn’t do that if I wanted to. When I got this dress worn by Mellie on Dollhouse (Season 1 Episode 5: True Believe) I had to wear it. She’s not a skinny minnie like the other girls on the show. If you’re on LookBook please go hype my style on there.

How to Tour Sex and the City Locations

Posted by missemmamm on May 28, 2010

ew years ago my sister and I decided to visit New York. It was my second visit. The first time I didn’t have anything at all planned and it was cool but not what it could have been. This time we had made a list of things we wanted to do. One of those things was the was the On Location Tours: Sex and the City Tour. Unfortunately the tours for that day were sold out. It must be a very popular tour because this was prior to the announcement that they were making the first film. So we decided to just visit some of the places ourselves. The first thing we found out was that many of the locations are actually in Greenwich Village, not New York City. Greenwich Village is very charming. We had to just wing it. Now there are easier ways to do this.

You may want to set up your visit yourself even if the tour is available to save $40+ or so you can do a shorter or longer tour or visit some of the locations that are no longer included in the On Location tour. There is also the Watson Adventures Sex and the City Scavenger Hunt for $24.50. I think this is a type of walking tour.

If you have an iPhone you can go here and for only .99 you can buy an app that includes 40 Sex and the City locations. To get directions you can use Hop Stop which will let you plan your route by walking, subway, bus or a combo.

Let’s start with my favorite location, Carrie’s stoop. Due to the disruptions caused by the large number of people visiting the stoop during the tour the stoop was nixed from the On Location Tour in 2008. In that article they listed that there is a sign in front to stop loitering. I don’t know if this is still in effect or not. If it were going for the first time I’d still try to get a picture. FYI-It’s been said that Sarah Jessica Parker herself lives nearby on Charles St.

Where To Buy Sex and the City 2 Fashions

Posted by missemmamm on May 27, 2010

I had originally planned to make this Sex and the City Week here but I was super busy on Tuesday and yesterday my server was down. Hopefully I can post from now through Saturday though. To see an item in a polyvore either click through the polyvore or directly on the link underneath the photo.

Currently ideeli is having a one day sale with fashions inspired by the new film including looks by Betsey Johnson. Jump on this sale because many items are already sold out. They have looks for all of the main characters. I’m really digging these Charlotte style dresses and Carrie style shoes.

ideeli satc coll

ideeli is a members only site that offers designers clothes at a great price for a limited time.

You can buy some of the actual designer dress styles Carrie wears in Sex and the City 2, if you have the dough, from Neiman Marcus or Singer 22. They are from the Halston Heritage Collection. Some of Miranda’s looks also look similar to those from this collection. You can also rent the white or pink dress from Rent the Runway for only $50. The Halston Heritage Collection is located here on their site.

ShoeDazzle recently chose some Sex and the City inspired styles. You may not want to go through the trouble of signing up, you might want to save a little money or the style you want may be sold out. These are the Carrie and Samantha styles available from other sites.

Patricia Field has been the costume designer for Sex and the City all the way from the series through both films.

Best Episodes of Sex and the City

Posted by missemmamm on May 24, 2010

I am very excited about Sex and the City 2 coming out on Thursday. So I’ve decided that this week will be Sex and the City Week here. I will be posting a new SATC post everyday.

You may want to rewatch SATC prior to the film’s release but not have time to marathon the whole series. These are my favorite episodes. I didn’t choose them to gel the storyline together. It’s more about fun, my M.O. I have chosen less episodes from seasons 1 and 5 because those were shorter. It was very hard to narrow season 2 down. It includes many excellent episodes so you may want to watch it from start to finish if you have time. I, unlike many, was a big fan of the LA episodes. I’m not usually one for spoilers but this show’s been out for years. If you’ve never seen it this is a spoiler land mine. Yes, I have referenced things about myself as they relate to certain episodes because they happened to effect me due to those events. For full info on all episodes of the series I recommend going here.

SEASON 1

Season 1: Episode 4 “Valley of the Twenty-Something Guys”
“What was that?” “A preview”
“Sir, we’re talking up the butt. A cigarette is in order.”

Photobucket

YouTube Preview Image

Carrie, Samantha and Miranda try dating guys in their 20s. Even in this early episode you can see that Big and Carrie were gonna have some drama. Some highlights of this episode are Timothy Olyphant guest starring as Carrie’s young lover and the classic Charlotte up the butt taxi scene.

Season 1: Episode 6 “Secret Sex”
Photobucket
Carrie wears the “naked dress” which leads her to have sex with Big on their first official date.

Season 1: Episode 9 “The Turtle and the Hare”
Samantha inexplicably dates and tries to change a man. It seemed very out of character but interesting. Charlotte gets her first sex toy, “The Rabbit”.

SEASON 2

Season 2: Episode 1 “Take me out to the Ballgame”
“Miranda was a huge fan of the Yankees. I was a huge fan of being anywhere you could smoke and drink at two in the afternoon without judgment.”

“How does it happen that four such smart women have nothing to talk about but boyfriends? It’s like seventh grade with bank accounts!”
Photobucket

Carrie happily rebounds from her break up with Big by dating “The New Yankee”. All seems well until she cries in his mouth. Miranda is mad at Carrie for obsessing about her break up until she also runs into her ex.

Season 2: Episode 4

Carrie tries to be friends with Big despite his new relationship until she finds out that he is actually marrying the girl. Carrie tries to come to terms with this by the end of the episode. This episode references the film The Way We Were which caused me to rent and then become a fan of it as well. Samantha finds a guy whose penis is actually too big.

“I’ve talked to her twice. Once I was in a cowboy hat and once I was in my bra. I’m like friggin’ Annie Get Your Clothes On.”

Carrie starts dating an immature guy she meets at a comic book store. I was very excited because the guy she dates (Cane Peterson) hosted a show called The List on VH1 at the time and I had a huge crush on him. Samantha runs the PR for a spoiled rich girl’s bat mitvah. Miranda because insecure due to her new braces. Kat Dennings guest stars. This was the first time I ever saw her in anything. She did a good job because I instantly hated the character but later found out the actress herself is likable. It’s an amusing episode but a bit disturbing that they refer to smoking weed as something they did in Junior High. Carrie refers to Lemony Pepsi Light which I had never heard of but they had just come out with the updated version at the time, Diet Pepsi Twist. Carrie wore a cute teal bandana which I loved and had happened to have purchased a similar one myself prior to the episode.

Season 4: Episode 2 “The Real Me”
“When I first moved to New York and I was totally broke, sometimes I would buy Vogue instead of dinner. I felt it fed me more.”

Carrie is chosen to be a model for a fashion show. She declines at first but then is swept away into the fantasy. She is perturbed when it turns out the other “real people” models are actually more accomplished writers. She gets nervous and drunk and falls down on the catwalk. Charlotte is diagnosed with a depressed vagina. She says she’s never seen it and thinks it’s ugly which doesn’t match up with an earlier episode where she models her vagina for a huge painting done by an esteemed artist. Samantha starves herself so she can get a sexy photo taken. She says it’s for herself but is upset when, at first, men don’t fall all over themselves about it. Miranda is nervous so she overcompensates and a man ends up calling her “full of herself”. Prior to this episode I was supposed to model for a little Fashion Bug show at the mall but dropped out of it when they put me in an unflattering outfit. So I was a little upset while watching and wondered if I should have just done it anyway. Alan Cumming, Margaret Cho and Heidi Klum guest star.

Season 4: Episode 3 “Defining Moments”
“Carrie likes a jazz man”

The next day he changes his mind and they have sex.

SEASON 6

Season 6: Episode 2 “Great Sexpectations”
“Hi, I need something that’ll make a guy cum in his pants as soon as he sees me.” “You talk to salespeople like that?”

Photobucket
Carrie and Berger can’t get their act together in the bedroom. Samantha meets Smith. Miranda skips dating in favor of Tivo. Charlotte becomes Jewish.

Season 6: Episode 9 “A Woman’s Right to Shoes” or “No Shoes, No Service”
“The fact is, sometimes it’s really hard to walk in a single woman’s shoes. That’s why we need really special ones now and then to make the walk a little more fun.”
Photobucket
Carrie is forced to remove her shoes at a married friend’s house for a party so her children won’t be exposed to germs. When Carrie gets ready to leave her shoes have been stolen. Eventually Carrie convinces her that they are equal and she is gifted a replacement pair. Miranda meets Robert. Charlotte nitpicks over Harry’s habits at home.

Season 6: Episode 11 “The Domino Effect”
“I love a cute Candy Stripper.” “It isn’t about stripping, it’s about striping.”

Be a Backer: Rena Riffel’s Showgirl

Go back the new movie SHOWGIRL, then come back and finish reading this.

Here’s the thing, Showgirls is my favorite movie. I have a list of about 10 movies that I list when someone asks what my favorites are and I used to have a hard time picking one until it was so obvious that it is Showgirls. This is the usual conversation “What’s your favorite movie?” “Showgirls” “You mean that awful movie with all of the naked people” “I think you mispronounced awesome”. I could give you a list of reasons why I love it. The main thing is it’s about going after your dreams no matter what. Nomi is not the most talented girl but she wants it. I could give you a ton of other reasons but I don’t feel the need to justify what I like.

Over the years Showgirls has become a cult classic. I believe there are a mostly silent section of people who unabashedly love the movie like I do. The majority though is people who have decided to love the movie ironically. That’s fine too. If that’s how you look at the flick, I suggest this article.

Currently actress Rena Riffel is using Kickstarter to get her new movie SHOWGIRL made. She refers to it as a “sleazquel” or a “satire” to the original Showgirls about her character Penny Slot/Helga.

showgirls coll

Rena Riffel is the actress who plays “Penny” or “Hope” in the original Showgirls. The next year she also appeared as Tiffany in Striptease. I always wondered about that and had wrongly assumed the woman who appeared in both films was a real stripper and that’s why she happened to be both. When I found out about this project last night it blew my mind in the most awesome way.

You can pledge $2 or more. The coolest available reward is a walk on role in the movie with your pledge of $200 or more. There are less than 30 of these available. If that’s not your thing you can get a special thanks credit for $150. For just $35 you can get an autographed 8X10 of Rena Riffel and an autographed DVD of her film Trasharella.

There are 33 days left and the film is already over half funded which is pretty impressive on Kickstarter. For more on how Kickstarter works go here.

Read Rena Riffel’s blog and follow her on twitter.

Pre-order the Blu-Ray of the original Showgirls or get the VIP Limited Edition DVD Set or the Fully Exposed Edition DVD. All of them include the same extras on the disc.

If you wonder how big of a Showgirls fan I really am,
